Planning a wedding can be both thrilling and overwhelming. You envision cake, dancing, and saying "I do," while also managing spreadsheets, budgets, and a multitude of decisions. No need to fret, everyone! I'm here to share five valuable insights I gained while organising my own simple, budget-friendly celebration.

#1 Budget Boss

Prioritise like a pro! Our dream home was our main focus, so our wedding budget was limited. Begin by creating a guest list (ours was under 90), as this significantly influences your budget (micro-wedding vs. grand affair). Next, identify your essentials (such as a stunning dress, delicious food, and great music) and classify everything else as "nice-to-haves." Trust me, adhering to this list is your budget's best ally.

#2 Grown-Up Fun

We decided on an adults-only event, and guess what? Our friends LOVED it! No nappy duty, just pure celebration. It may be a tough choice, but weigh the pros and cons, and remember, happy friends lead to a happier you.

#3 Golden Hour Grab

My photographer was fantastic, but we lost precious party time due to an unexpected "golden hour" photo session. Discuss your photo schedule with your photographer in advance! Determine how much time feels right for you, and don’t hesitate to adjust for an ideal balance of memorable photos and fun with your loved ones.

#4 Taste Test Triumph

Don’t skip the taste test! We chose a buffet-style caterer, and while it was satisfactory, a tasting would have helped us find the perfect match. Look for venues or caterers that offer tasting events, or even check out some food trucks. Happy taste buds make for happy guests!

#5 Delegate and Dance

This is a game-changer! Even with my detailed spreadsheet and organised mindset, things slipped through the cracks on the day. Hire an on-the-day coordinator! Let a professional manage the logistics, allowing you and your loved ones to relax, sip cocktails, and truly enjoy every moment.

Remember, your wedding is about celebrating your love with your favourite people.

So, relax, have fun, and don’t stress over the small stuff. These tips will help you navigate the planning process like a pro, ensuring your big day is everything you dreamed of (and maybe even a little more!). Now go forth, savvy brides and grooms, and create your own unforgettable love story!
